The international route between London and Amsterdam will see an increase in daily trains in 2025, Eurostar has confirmed.
Eurostar adds daily trains to London-Amsterdam route
After resuming trains between Amsterdam and London following an eight-month pause, Eurostar announced plans to add another daily train on the London-Amsterdam connection. Currently, Eurostar trains between the UK and the Netherlands run three times a day, including a new morning train that leaves Amsterdam at 6.40am and arrives in London at 9.57am.
From September 9, a fourth daily service will be added, followed by a fifth from mid-December. This comes after Virgin revealed plans for a new international high-speed train route including the Dutch capital, to compete with Eurostar - the only provider to run long-distance rail services between London, Paris, Lille, Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
Eurostar plans to connect Frankfurt and Geneva to London
Not only does Eurostar plan to run more trains between London and Amsterdam, but the company also wants to expand to other destinations, namely Germany and Switzerland. With 50 additional trains, Eurostar aims to operate new direct routes between London and Frankfurt, and from London to Geneva.
Lastly, another route that’s on the table is a train from Amsterdam or Brussels to Geneva. “We’re seeing strong demand for train travel across Europe, with customers wanting to go further by rail than ever before and enjoy the unique experience we provide,” Gwendoline Cazenave, Eurostar CEO said in a press release. “A new golden age of international sustainable travel is here.”
