Amsterdam Zuidas is top office location in the Netherlands

By Mark McDaid

Amsterdam's Zuidas business district is the best office location in the Netherlands, research by the financial services organisation Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has revealed.

First objective survey of office market

Although this is the second edition of JLL's rankings, the popularity of the first edition drove the organisation to refine their investigatory methods to provide a transparent and objective survey of the state of the office market in the Netherlands.

A total of 238 office locations in 50 Dutch cities were investigated using 57 indicators ranging from location to municipal policy in the area.

Dominance of metropolitan hubs

Metropolitan hubs dominant the top 25 office locations, mainly thanks to their accessibility via train or car. Perhaps surprisingly, however, Rotterdam has only 4 locations within the top 25 and three Amsterdam locations are above the highest ranking Rotterdam location.

Amsterdam's Zuidas was, for the second year running, given the top spot in the rankings. Michael Hesp, head of the research project, praises the area for having "optimal accessibility, excellent and sustainable building quality and strong, international image."
