Job Description
The Department of Quantitative Economics (QE) within the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University has leading international reputation both for research and education in econometrics, actuarial sciences, mathematical economics and operations research. We are offering a fixed-term postdoctoral position in econometrics (2 years). We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD in the area of high-dimensional statistics, econometrics and/or robust statistics as well as their applications to economic data. The starting date of the position can be determined by mutual agreement but should not be later than September 2025.

The applicant will contribute to research in econometrics and statistics and is expected to work on research projects with dr. Ines Wilms. The candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching-related tasks at the QE Department which consists of both courses for bachelor and master programs in Economics and Business, and courses for the Bachelor and Master programs in Econometrics and Operations Research. The postdoctoral researcher will have a teaching duty of around 25%.

Requirements
The ideal candidate:

  • Has a PhD (or close to completion) in statistics or econometrics.
  • Demonstrates excellence in research in high-dimensional statistics, econometrics or robust statistics.
  • Is oriented towards both research and teaching.
  • Is an enthusiastic and cooperative colleague, willing to collaborate with the econometrics group and the QE department as a whole in research and teaching.
  • Has an excellent command of English (oral and writing), as the language of instruction is English.


What we offer
As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Econometrics at the School of Business and Economics, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to UFO profile Postdoc, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from € 3,226 and € 5,090 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 24 months with a scope of 1.0 FTE.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
