GL Accountant (Freelance/ Temp)

We are looking for a GL accountant to join an international FMCG organisation for approximately 4 months. In this role you have a broad scope of responsibilities. Think of month-end close process, process development, process management as well as day to day month-end activities.

As a Senior GL Accountant you play a key role in the organization. You have a broad responsibility in the month-end close process, from process development, process management as well as day to day monthend activities. You will also assist in financial audits and tax audits.
Within the GL team you will have one colleage who will cover another area in EMEA, and 1 junior accountant.
Your responsibilities:
- Month-end close planning and coordination between departments;
- Month-end close process management and improvement;
- Prepare monthly journal entries, with supporting documentation and appropriate descriptions;
- Prepare and review all monthly accruals for accuracy and record the applicable journal entries;
- Analyse and maintain the general ledger to ensure the accuracy of revenue and cost allocation;
- Ensure all journal entries for month-end close are completed within company month-end close deadline;
- Assist with month-end close process;
- Analyse all balance sheet accounts and prepare detailed support schedules and monthly account reconciliations;
- Assist with yearly audit procedures;
- Reconcile and settle intercompany balances;
- Ad hoc project(s).
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of GL Accounting experience which ideally also includes some AR, AP, Payroll, Intercompany & Bank reconciliations experience;
- Degree in finance/accounting preferred but not required;
- Computer skills required: Excel a must and Microsoft D365 experience a big plus;
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities. Adapt at prioritizing and coordinating tasks and performing work within established timeframes;
- Ability to perform work independently and able to organize and prioritize without supervision;
- Strong analytical skills, able to understand the bigger picture from individual transactions;
- Fluent in English. Other EU languages (FR/ES/IT/DE) a plus;
- Strong interpersonal skills and critical thinking;
- Enthusiasm to improve processes, brings positive energy;
- Flexibility, willingness to take on alternative or additional tasks to meet the business needs.
Salary
This is a temporary assignment from september till end of the year for 40 hours per week. For a freelance we can offer a hourly rate around €70 - €75 all-in. If you are not a freelancer, then we will offer you a temporary contract via Independent Recruiters Flex with a salary around € 4500 - € 5500 gross per month based on 40 hours
