Assistant Professor in Mathematical Methods and Applications in Data Science
Updated: 09 Jun 2021
The Business Analytics section at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level starting in January 2022.
With recent developments in artificial intelligence, the use of algorithms -particularly machine learning models- in decision making is increasing at an alarming rate. This shift towards algorithms has important societal impacts on economy, education, justice, and health. Our new colleague will join a recently founded research group in our department focusing on interpretability in machine learning, and privacy in mathematical optimization.
What are you going to do?
The core tasks of an Assistant Professor are in teaching and research. In the tenure track appointment, 50% of the time will be for research, while the teaching load will (maximally) take up the other 50% of time. Teaching will be at the graduate (MSc.), the undergraduate (BSc.) level, or in one of the executive programs the ABS offers. Research efforts should focus on publishing in international top-tier journals and conferences, especially in the fields of operations research and computer science.
The starting date will be 1 January 2022.
