Where can you find the best nachos in the Netherlands?

There was a time (not too long ago) when you’d have struggled to find a good plate of loaded nachos in the Netherlands. But it seems like this loaded cheesy food has experienced a real renaissance over the past few years, proving to be the perfect match for practically any drink or occasion, and now countless bars and restaurants across the country offer their own variation on the dish.

But not all nachos are good nachos. And so Santa Maria, a Scandinavian food company specialising in Tex-Mex flavours and dishes, set out to find the best nachos the Netherlands had to offer.

On the hunt for the best Nachos in the Netherlands

A team from Santa Maria tried 40 different versions of nachos at different catering establishments up and down the country. The top dishes were judged and scored on taste, originality, and presentation, with the average final score determining the establishment’s ranking.

Claiming the 2020 top spot was Hick’s Diner in Amsterdam with their nachos loaded with guacamole, pico de gallo, creme fraiche, sriracha, jalapenos, onion, cheddar cheese and grilled lime. The restaurant’s chef, Luiz, says loaded nachos have to taste good, but look good too, and highlights the fact that the guacamole, sriracha, and pico de gallo are made in-house using fresh ingredients.
