Regardless of whether or not you’ve tried to learn Dutch, chances are you’ve come across a fair few Dutch words that sound rather peculiar to you as a non-native speaker. But which ones are the funniest?

What is the funniest Dutch word?

Trying to learn a new language can be a daunting and time-consuming task, so sometimes you need a little light relief to get you through the arduous process of familiarising yourself with all those pesky verb conjugations and getting to grips with the whole de versus het conundrum. Luckily, Dutch has several words that will get you giggling in your next Dutch class or when you’re trying to test out your language skills with friends or family

Whether it’s because the words look funny written down, or perhaps sound a little naughty if you don’t know what they mean, there are a couple of words in Dutch that are pretty funny.
