What do the names Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Don Diablo, Afrojack, Martin Garrix and Oliver Heldens have in common? For one, they’re all internationally successful DJs. Secondly, they are all from the Netherlands and ultimately, they have been voted into the top 10 best DJs in the world.
This public vote was organised by DJ Mag and it was announced during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). There were 1.2 million people voting, mostly from the US and the UK.
The DJ named number one in the world is Martin Garrix. The 22-year-old signed his first record deal five years ago and made his international breakthrough in 2013 with Animals. This is the third year that Martin Garrix is the highest ranking DJ in the world.
Armin van Buuren was placed number five, having topped the ranking five times. Tiesto, who, back in 2013 had been voted the “best DJ of the last 20 years”, was in sixth place.
Hardwell was placed third, although he has actually stopped touring to focus on his personal life. He had been voted number one by DJ Mag in 2013 and again in 2014. He has already released eight compilation albums. Don Diabolo placed seventh, Afrojack was at number eight and Oliver Heldens came in ninth.
The following DJs are this year's top 10 in the world, according to the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2018.
