A 20-metre-high mural in Eindhoven has been voted the best mural in the world for 2024. The art piece titled Echoes of Harmony is also the largest mural its creators at Studio Giftig have completed in the Dutch city.

Best mural worldwide found in Dutch city

Street Art Cities, an international urban art platform, nominated Echoes of Harmony by Studio Gifitg in the Netherlands as one of the best murals in the world for 2024. The public was then given the chance to vote and the Dutch artwork took the winning title in the Expert Spotlight category.

This is not the first time street art by creators Kaspar van Leek and Niels van Swaeman has been recognised. In 2022, another mural of theirs in Tilburg was named the best globally. “We’re beyond excited,” Studio Giftig wrote about the 2024 award on Instagram. “This category celebrates the most exceptional murals, selected by a panel of top curators, directors and gallery owners from the global street art scene. After that, the public voted worldwide and Echoes of Harmony in Eindhoven captured their hearts.”

Dutch street art shows power of music

Painted behind the Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven, Echoes of Harmony shows a street musician and a concert violinist embracing one another. "The work symbolises the power of music to break down barriers and unite communities," Kaspar and Niels explained to indebuurt.

Who says you need to go to a museum to see artful masterpieces? Anyone in the Netherlands strolling along Jan van Lieshoutstraat on the way to an event at the concert hall or travelling to work can get a glimpse of the urban art piece.
