The popular doughnut franchise Krispy Kreme is coming to the Netherlands. The first Dutch stores are set to open later this year.
Krispy Kreme expands to the Netherlands
Anyone who loves a good doughnut will be happy to hear that Krispy Kreme has announced its expansion to the Netherlands. The international company secured a franchise deal with Jafa Holding BV, an Amsterdam-based company owned by former Dunkin’ operations manager Roberto Fava.
Krispy Kreme is expected to open its first Dutch stores in October or November 2026, with hopes of building a total of 30 stores throughout the Netherlands over the next five years, reports ANP. Where the first store will be located is still undecided.
First Krispy Kreme in the Netherlands to have Doughnut Theatre
The new Krispy Kreme store in the Netherlands will be a “Hot Light Theatre Shop”, which means the sweet treats will be sold and produced in the same location. It will include the franchise’s Doughnut Theatre, where consumers can see how the doughnuts are made and even have a taste of a fresh one straight from the production line.
Krispy Kreme was founded in 1937 in the United States and is now one of the world’s most popular doughnut shops. With Dutch stores coming, it will provide some competition for Dunkin’, which has been operating in the Netherlands since 2017.
