Swan Lake reinvented

With eight dancers, a live band, animal heads and knife throwers, it's fair to say that Jakop Ahlbom bends the world-famous fairy tale entirely to his will.

The characters in Swan Lake discover their darker sides, manipulative tendencies, jealousy and vengefulness, as well as the truth that love doesn't conquer all. Alamo Race Track transform the original music by Tchaikovsky into their own characteristic style with influences from indie, folk and pop. The band will also compose new music for the production and will be performing live on stage every night.

Jakop Ahlbom's distinct brand of theatre

Jakop Ahlbom arrived in the Netherlands from Sweden in the early 1990s. After working with various performance and creative groups, he decided to begin making his own independent productions.

Known for, among others, his famously successful physical thrill-play HORROR, Jakop Ahlbom uses imaginative and interactive sets and highly physical acting. With an interdisciplinary mix of mime, dance, illusion and slapstick, Ahlbom is able to tell narratives that engage audiences through a unique visual language.
