ProRail has announced that no trains will run to, from or via Rotterdam Centraal Station on the weekend of May 24 and 25 as work takes place on the tracks.

Disruptions to Rotterdam train traffic from May 24

Earlier this year, ProRail warned that work on the Dutch railways would cause major disruptions in 2025. May has already seen Groningen Centraal close for the next two months, and now stations around Rotterdam are set to be impacted as well.

On May 24 and 25, Dutch railway operator ProRail is making improvements to the train safety system between Rotterdam Centraal, Delft Campus, Nieuwekerk aan den IJssel and Barendrecht. This means that there will be no trains running to, from or via the main station in Rotterdam during the weekend.

NS urges travellers using public transport in the city to take extra crowds and long waiting times into account during this period. Replacement buses will run to surrounding destinations and passengers can also make use of the metro. Those travelling from Schiedam or Delft to Gouda or Utrecht are advised to travel via The Hague Central Station.

Work on tracks between Rotterdam and The Hague

There will be further disruptions in Rotterdam and surrounding areas this year, as work on the tracks between Rotterdam and The Hague takes place. From June 7 to 8, no trains will run between Gouda and Rotterdam, with passengers advised to travel via The Hague.

On June 29, train traffic between Gouda and The Hague will also be halted. Anyone using public transport between the two cities is encouraged to travel via Rotterdam.
