Dutch residents can expect to have some extra cash in their pockets as the minimum wage in the Netherlands is set to increase in July this year and with it, the state pension (AOW).

Minimum wage increase July 2025

The government raises the minimum wage in the Netherlands twice a year: January 1 and July 1. With the first rise of 2025, part-time workers actually saw a smaller increase than full-time workers due to the change in the general tax credit.

From July 1, 2025, the Dutch minimum wage will rise from 14,06 euros to 14,40 euros per hour for workers aged 21 and over. Based on a 40-hour workweek, that means workers will get around 50 euros extra per month for a total of approximately 2.300 euros, before tax.

Dutch state pension to increase by 30 euros per month

As the minimum wage increases, other benefits in the Netherlands will also go up, such as the state pension. According to the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB), the AOW pension will increase to 1.612.44 euros gross per month, giving single pensioners 30 euros extra.

Couples will see a smaller increase of just 20 euros for a gross total of 1.103.97 euros. Single pensioners receive 70% of the net minimum wage, while each person in a couple living together gets 50%.
