Inflation rate rises further

The annual inflation climbed to 2,3 percent in May, according to the latest figures released by Statistics Netherlands.

Main drivers
Higher energy prices; gas and electricity were on average 6,1 percent higher than last year.
More expensive plane tickets; airline tickets were 6,8 percent up on one year previously.
Food prices and especially fresh vegetables, have risen considerably; food prices were 2,7 percent higher than in May 2010.

Note that this is the highest figure in thirty months even though the eurozone inflation rate dropped from 2,8 in April to 2,7 in May.
