Despite the economic crisis, the number of millionaires in the Netherlands increased by 10,2% to 134.100 in 2010, while the number of millionaires worldwide rose to 10,9 million, an increase of 8,3%.

Apart from the fact that the world’s millionaires "expanded in population and wealth in 2010 surpassing 2007 pre-crisis levels in nearly every region," the 15th annual World Wealth Report 2011, which has been carried out by Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management and Capgemini, also reveals that:
› 83% of all millionaires are over 45 years of age
› 27% of all millionaires are women
› The combined wealth of all millionaires is 42,7 trillion dollars
› Almost 30% of money is being spent on expensive cars, private planes, yachts, art collections, jewellery and other luxury products

For more information please download the World Wealth Report 2011.

Note that millionaires are those individuals with investible assets of 1 million US dollars or more, excluding primary residence, collectibles, consumables and consumer durables.
