(Postdoc) Researcher in Psychology of Aging (1.0 FTE, 2 years)

Description:

We are looking for a candidate who will study predictors and markers of inter-individual differences in associative memory in late adulthood. The project will focus on longitudinal changes in a large population-based sample including behavioural as well as structural and functional MRI data. In addition, new experimental data collections will be conducted including healthy older adults as well as individuals at risk for developing dementia.

 

The candidate will work together with Prof. Dr. Yvonne Brehmer and other members of the department on establishing the field of successful aging at the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences by collaborating within and across different departments.

Teaching (e.g., lecturing at the BA and MA level, supervision of BA and MA theses) is not required but optional for the development of the applicant’s teaching portfolio. Research tasks are coordinated with the head of the department and Prof. Dr. Yvonne Brehmer.

Requirements:

Applicants need to hold a doctorate in Psychology, Neuroscience or related disciplines, and should have experience with using functional neuroimaging, behavioural and/or computational methods. A record of publishing in per-reviewed international journals and familiarity with multivariate analysis techniques are highly beneficial. In addition, the ability to work independently and high proficiency of the English language is essential and excellent collaborative, communication and writing skills are needed. Working language at the Department and the University is English and applicants are not expected to speak Dutch language, however initiatives to learn Dutch are supported by the department.

 

The position is available from January 2019 on and will last for 2 years. The project also involves collaborations with researchers from the Aging Research Center, Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (https://ki-su-arc.se/) and Gothenburg University (https://psy.gu.se/english/research/research-groups/ada-gero-group) Regular travels for collaboration purposes are intended.

Salary Benefits:

Tilburg University is among the top of the Dutch employers and has an excellent policy concerning terms of employment. The starting salary for the position of a postdoctoral researcher on a full-time basis ranges between € 3,545 and € 4,852 gross per month. Foreigners (and long-term Dutch expats) can apply for tax-free allowance of 30% of their taxable salary (this increases net salary by ca. 15%).
