With over 12,000 members across more than 140 countries, the association advocates for the highest ethical and professional standards and develops internationally recognized codes of conduct and guidelines that reflect the latest developments in research, technology, and data protection.
For their Industry Affairs Division, based in Amsterdam, Octagon is looking for a Professional Standards Specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop the global code of conduct to reflect new legal requirements, data privacy regulations, and technological advancements.
- Draft and update guidelines on GDPR compliance, participant protection, ethical data use, and responsible data processing.
- Coordinate input from legal experts, committees, and industry stakeholders to ensure the relevance and applicability of standards.
- Support the creation of training materials and offer guidance to members on implementing professional standards and ensuring compliance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to embed standards and compliance principles into wider organizational projects.
- Monitor international regulatory developments (GDPR, ePrivacy, data transfers) and assess their impact on current policies and guidelines.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in market research operations, data privacy, compliance, or data analytics.
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR and related data privacy frameworks, preferably applied in an international context.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with diverse, multidisciplinary, and global stakeholders.
- Experience developing or applying professional standards, codes of conduct, or compliance frameworks is an asset.
- Fluent in English (additional European languages are a plus).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Data Privacy, Compliance, Market Research, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for committee meetings, events, or training sessions.
