Octagon Professionals is seeking Deputy Service Manager Data & Process Analysis to support the management of the Data and Process Analytics Service at the European Space Agency (ESA).
The selected candidate will be based at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, and together with the Service Manager based in ESA/ESTEC in the Netherlands will play a vital role in overseeing a team of 5-6 Data & Process Analysts spread across two key ESA establishments: ESTEC (Netherlands), and ESRIN (Italy).
These tasks will be performed to all organisational entities in the Directorate of Internal Servcies (D/HIF).
Key Responsibilities:
Collecting business requirements/mapping ESA processes and preparing documentation, including:
- Collecting and analysing business requirements related to both process digitalisation and dash boarding needs.
- Document detailed process/reporting requirements, including process flows, data sourcesKPIs and visualisation preferences.
- Document the as-is process using standard methodologies (e.g IDEFO), perform analysis on issues/gap with respect to expected behaviour (value stream map etc).
- Collaborate with teams to ensure alignment with organisational reporting standards and guidelines.
Data analysis, reporting and dashboard design and implementation, including:
- Contribute to the definition to the data and report architecture as per internal process (including master data maintenance).
- Build requested reports according to specified requirements, including data access rules
- Design user-friendly and visually appealing reports and dashboards tailored to financial performance metrics.
- Provide support for the deployed reports and dashboards, including updates and enhancements based on evolving business needs.
- Propose and implement effective visual representations of data, ensuring clarity and accuracy in reporting.
Testing and data validation, including:
- Perform rigorous testing to validate the accuracy of the report's dashboards data models.
- Troubleshoot and report to Business Responsible any data-related issues.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline;
- 5+ years of experience in service management or team leadership roles;
- Strong background in data and statistical analysis, data modelling, and dashboard design;
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI (mandatory);
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, Adobe Acrobat, and collaboration tools like SharePoint, Slack, and MS Teams;
- Experience in ESA or similar institutional environment;
- Proficient project management skills;
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and project timelines;
- Strong written and spoken communication;
- Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of the local working language is an asset;
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
