Rotterdam is almost ready to open up its new surfing centre, located on Rotterdam’s Steigersgracht, over 10 years later than planned. The surfer’s paradise named Rif010 is set to have its grand opening on July 6, when a surf competition will take place.

Surf centre set to open next to Foodhallen Rotterdam

The surf centre is set to open in an ideal location for foodies as it is near Rotterdam’s Foodhallen, so visitors can surf, or watch the pros surf, and grab some delicious food afterwards. The centre is the dream project of surfer and businessman Edwin Van Viegen.

Van Viegen wanted to open a surfing centre on the Steigersgracht canal, in a location where professionals can compete in a vibrant and culture-filled spot.

Opening of surfing centre will showcase top-class surfers

The opening ceremony of the surf centre will showcase some of the best of Dutch surfing, when the centre will host a surfing competition. After that, the centre will be open every day, between 10am and 10pm.

For surfers, it’s possible to bring your own surfboard, or you can hire one on-site. Tickets to surf on Rotterdam’s new waves will cost between 35 and 50 euros. “The first few weeks are already fully booked”, Van Viegen told the AD.
