According to NBTC Holland Marketing and Response, last year, the number of visitors to attractions in the Netherlands rose by eight percent. In 2016, 16 attractions registered visitor numbers of one million or more. This number rose to 18 last year.
In 2017, around 47 million people visited theme parks, zoos, museums, athletic leisure facilities, and other places of interest in the Netherlands. The 50 biggest attractions drew in more than 12 million foreign visitors.
The most visited of all of these was De Efteling amusement park, which, for the first time ever, received more than five million visitors. Coming in at second place was Lovers Canal Cruises, a great way to explore the waters, which welcomed almost 2,3 million guests. The Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam ended up placing at the same position as the previous year, namely third, with more than 2,2 million visitors.
Of the attractions visited by foreign tourists, the Zaanse Schans takes the top spot, with almost 2 million visitors. The Van Gogh museum isn’t far behind, with 1,9 million travellers from abroad stopping by to see the world’s largest collection of Vincent’s artwork.
