We are more than halfway through the summer and the festival season is in full swing. As the summer moves along and draws to a close, there's no end to the music events all over Amsterdam. August, September and October are exciting months for music events.

Concerts in August, September and October

Music fans come from far and wide to some of the most important concert stages, not just in the Netherlands, but in the world. Here's our selection of unmissable events at locations like Paradiso, Melkweg and Ziggo Dome:

The Wailers

As the legendary band behind Bob Marley, The Wailers hardly need any introduction. They are renowned for songs like “Get Up, Stand Up" and “Trenchtown Rock”. They’ll be playing “One Love" on August 1 at Paradiso.

Capleton

Capleton, the Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist also known as King Shango will be back once more in the Melkweg. Back in the 1990s, he formed an important part of reggae history together with Buju Banton and Sizzla, steeped in Rastafarian spiritual themes.

Justin Timberlake

He's back in Amsterdam, on his The Man of the Woods Tour! Justin Timberlake's highly anticipated studio album, which was released on February 2, is his fourth studio album.

Ozomatli & Chali2NA

This concert is part of the special Paradiso Hip-hop programme. Ozomatli & Chali2NA, the six-strong Los Angeles-based band, focuses on Latin, hip-hop and rock, but also dives into the worlds of salsa, jazz, funk, reggae, rap and much more!

Jassanova live

This band originally formed as a DJ collective and evolved into a live band. Hailing from Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, Jassanova are extremely eclectic, with genres ranging from Latin jazz to house.

Mulatu Astatke

The father of Ethiopian jazz, Mulatu Astatke, combines elements of jazz, Latin music and traditional Ethiopian music. In Paradiso, you can hear him perform on the vibraphone, keyboard, conga and bongo; the 21st century’s answer to Duke Ellington.

Maluma

The Colombian superstar Maluma stops by Amsterdam on his F.A.M.E. tour. This album was released in May 2018 and stands for Faith, Alma (soul in Spanish), Music and Essence. Ever since his song Farandulera became a hit, he has been one of the top recording artists on Sony Latin.

The Chemical Brothers

This British duo broke new ground in progressive house and big beat in the 1990s. Eight studio albums and four Grammy Awards later, the Chemical Brothers treat Amsterdam audiences to music from their early years together with fresh new material.

U2

Legendary Irish band U2 take to the Ziggo Dome stage with their Experience + INNOCENCE tour, following the release of their 14th studio album Songs of Experience. With their ultra-modern sound system and state-of-the-art LED lighting screen, it’s sure to be a spectacular show.

Shania Twain

Touring Europe on her NOW tour, Shania Twain has 30 years of career behind her. This is her first European tour in 13 years and the first time she is on tour as a songwriter and producer. She is sounding as great as ever.

Fat Freddy’s Drop

This seven-piece band from Wellington, New Zealand is characterised by its eclectic styles, mixing dub, reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm, blues and techno. Fat Freddy's Drop are also renowned for their improvised live performances on their tours, which hark back to the band’s genesis as a jam band, made up of musicians from other bands.

Hardwell & Metropole Orkest

This show, taking place during Amsterdam Dance Event, brings together Hardwell – the world-famous DJ – and the Metropole Orkest, one of the world’s leading jazz and pop orchestras. This performance will explore music inspired by the 80s, through hits by world famous stars like Tiësto and Daft Punk, right to the present, brought to you by Hardwell and the Metropole Orkest.

Dub FX

The world-famous beatboxer Dub FX brings us a spectacular live show at Amsterdam Dance Event. With his raw vibe and reggae influences, he is also inspired by drum ‘n bass, jungle, reggae and hip-hop, and is renowned for giving high energy live performances.

Alpha Blondy

One of the most important international performing artists from Africa, reggae singer Alpha Blondy is back at the Melkweg after 10 years. He sings in many languages including English, French, Arabic, Hebrew and West-African languages Dioula, Bete and Baule.

George Ezra

The British singer-songwriter George Ezra is back in Amsterdam after a sold-out show at Paradiso in April. He has been sought-after ever since his breakthrough first single Budapest. His second studio album Staying at Tamara’s, released earlier this year, was a huge success. He cites Woodie Guthrie and Bob Dylan as his greatest influences.
