Have you ever wondered why people from the Netherlands aren’t called Netherlandians, Netherish or Netherese? Well, wonder no more! Check out the video below to find out why people from the Netherlands are known as the Dutch.

Unusual names

If you asked a random person on the street why people from the Netherlands are called Dutch, they would most likely be unable to give you an answer. It seems like, for as long as anyone can remember, that’s just how it is and how it’s always been. However, there is actually quite a simple reason for why this is the case.

By the way, this isn’t the only confusing name associated with the Netherlands as the country is widely known, somewhat confusingly, as Holland. Fortunately, the video below explains why the Dutch came to be known as the Dutch and how the Netherlands became known as Holland.
