This month, a plane crash drill will be carried out close to the airport in Eindhoven.

Large scale crisis response test

500 actors and aid workers will be involved in the drill, which is based on a passenger plane crash scenario. Plane wreckage will also be placed at the scene of the “crash”. There are a number of parties involved in the drill, namely, the regional fire brigade, the municipality, Eindhoven Airport, Royal Netherlands Air Force, Military Constabulary and the police.

During the drill, the existing Crisis Management plan will be practised and various dilemmas aid workers could face will be addressed. The drill is an important test of employees’ professionalism and the cooperation between the organisations involved. In 2011, a similar drill took place.
