In 2010, the Netherlands had the second highest level of prosperity in the EU - the Dutch GDP per capita was more than 33 percent higher than the EU average.
"As a result of the economic crisis, the relative level of prosperity in Greece, Italy and Spain deteriorated by most. Per capita GDP in Greece was 10 percent below the EU average. In 2009 it was still only 6 percent below average," according to Statistics Netherlands.
Note that "level of prosperity" refers to gross domestic product corrected for price changes. This is often used as an indicator of a country’s prosperity level.
