Dog finds pipe bomb in Brabant backyard and brings it inside

By Emily Proctor

A dog found an explosive pipe-bomb in its owner's backyard, and then brought it into the house, according to Omroep Brabant. The house, which is located on Parallelweg in Budel-Schoot, was evacuated, alongside several others in the street, as a precautionary measure.

Law enforcement safely detonated the bomb

According to Omroep Brabant, the man whose dog brought the explosive inside did not know it was a bomb and tried to open the explosive. "It was a rusty thing about twenty centimetres long. I thought it was something else and cut it open. When I saw that it could be a bomb, I called the police," said owner Jermain.

Upon inspection, the Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service determined that it was actually a pipe bomb, the police reported on X. The authorities took the bomb to a rural location where they were able to detonate it safely.

Jermain wants to see if his dog can find more hidden objects

Jermain told the newspaper that he is keen to see if his pet can find more objects in the backyard, hoping that his dog could even find gold next time.

It is not known how the pipe bomb came to be in Jermain's backyard, or if there could be more explosives to be found there.
