Health insurance packages for international students

LoonZorg offers two different health insurance policies for international students that will cover most unforeseen healthcare expenses. The main differences between the two policies can be found via the following link: Compare both health insurance policies.

What is covered by LoonZorg's health insurance policies for students?

LoonZorg health insurance policies for international students cover:

  • Visits to a family doctor (GP)
  • Medication
  • Visits to a specialist after being referred by the GP
  • Hospitalisation
  • Physiotherapy
  • Psychotherapy
  • Optional dental coverage

On top of the coverage of healthcare expenses, students can opt for an insurance package that contains:

  • Travel insurance
  • Household contents insurance
  • Personal accident insurance
  • Legal assistance insurance
  • Third-party insurance

The policies are available for a monthly premium from 21,31 euros, depending on the coverage and excess. Register now.

When do you need to take out health insurance as an international student?

Please note that as soon as a student starts working in the Netherlands (part-time work included), their employer pays contributions towards Social Security. From that moment on, the student is obliged to take out Dutch public health insurance.

LoonZorg can help you switch insurance policy packages to ensure you have the best-suited and best-priced policy for your individual situation. Learn more here.

Switching your policy is easy

Students can easily switch to this Dutch public health insurance as soon as they start working in the Netherlands, whether this is full-time or part-time. If you have any questions regarding health insurance for international students, don’t hesitate to contact LoonZorg via phone (023 20 52 129) or email (info@loonzorg.nl).
