Wheel clamps for unpaid parking fines
Foreign drivers in the Hague that do not pay their parking fines within 14 days will get a wheel clamp.
At the moment, it is not possible to trace cars registered in countries other than Germany and Belgium and thus, approximately, three quarters of all parking fines (foreign cars) are not paid. On the top of the list are East Europeans, French and British.
Getting a wheel clamp costs 306 euros and if not paid within 24 hours, cars will be pulled away (another 306 euros) plus 25 euros for storage. Owners are allowed a three-month period after which vehicles will be auctioned.
