"OV-miles" on the way?

NS is "sympathetic" to Ineke van Gent’s (GreenLeft) idea about "OV-miles" - point system similar to air miles - during a meeting with Melanie Schultz van Haegen, Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment (VVD).

Collecting miles could mean free travel during weekends and off-peak first class travel. However, all carriers must agree to such a plan and all travellers should be equipped with smartcards, otherwise it would be like "penalising those using tickets," NS spokesman stated.
