NS: No trains between Haarlem and Leiden for 6 days starting January 26
Maintenance work being carried out on the train tracks near Haarlem mean that, between Thursday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 31, no trains will be running between Haarlem and Leiden. The work will also affect services between Leiden and The Hague.
No trains between Haarlem and Leiden due to maintenance work
On Monday, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) announced that ProRail will be carrying out six days of maintenance work from January 26, affecting a number of services to and from the city of Haarlem. The construction will also affect some roads in the area, and the crossings at the Pijlslaan and Westergracht in Haarlem will both be closed as a result.
NS has therefore warned travellers to prepare for potential “replacement bus services, detours, extra transfers and therefore extra travel time,” and advises passengers to adjust their travel plans or check the NS website or app to plan their trip ahead of their journeys.
Rail replacement services in operation until January 31
The maintenance work means that, between January 26 and 31, absolutely no trains will run between Haarlem and Leiden Centraal, and fewer trains will run between Leiden and The Hague. Passengers travelling between Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Leiden / The Hague will travel via Schiphol Airport on a diverted route.
NS is deploying a number of rail replacement buses in order to make up for the reduced services. Buses will run between Haarlem and Leiden Centraal, and between Haarlem and Zandvoort and Haarlem and Amsterdam Sloterdijk over the weekend.
