The Hague: Neighbourhood service teams

By Moa Thorssell

On May 9, the first 22 neighbourhood service teams (buurtserviceteams) cleaned the streets of The Hague.

Each neighbourhood team consists of 11 people; one manager, three employees and seven people (employment reintegration project) responsible for cleaning specific neighbourhoods (currently Scheveningen, Segbroek, Laak, Escamp and Centrum) on a daily basis.

The teams fall under Haags Werkbedrijf, an organisation with experience in reintegrating people into the workforce, while the plan is to have 40 and 60 teams by the end of 2011 and 2013 respectively.
