The Dutch are once again pioneering, this time in environmentally friendly transportation.

GreenCab in Utrecht is the new taxi service with six electric cars that will gradually increase up to 40 till the end of the year and will eventually replace all conventional vehicles in the near future.

Electric cabs are the first in Europe and the third worldwide; they make less noise and more importantly, produce minimal pollution compared with petrol vehicles.

Kevin Vermeij, GreenCab's account manager, believes that this initiative will inspire other taxi companies in the Netherlands or even other countries to invest in such a project.
