Start a language course this spring or summer with UvA Talen!
Are you looking to kick-start your language learning this spring or summer? UvA Talen is the leading language centre in Amsterdam which offers courses in 13 different languages, ranging from elementary to advanced levels! Not only do they have fast-paced, communicative group courses but they also offer tailor-made courses and e-learning self-guided programmes. Each year, over 3.000 students complete a course at UvA Talen, earning an internationally-recognised language level certificate and reaching a new level in just a couple of weeks!
Try a group course in any of UvA Talen’s 13 languages
The group courses are UvA Talen’s most popular course format, providing a great student-teacher environment in which a teacher guides a course using a whiteboard, textbook, handouts, and quizzes to help put your skills to the test.
The online courses are administered via a virtual classroom and it follows the same exact formula as that of their offline lessons. The only difference is that the lessons take place online using a video, audio, and chat function.
UvA Talen’s evening courses commence four times a year and include all 13 languages. However, if you want to improve your Dutch or English in a short period of time, UvA Talen offers intensive daytime courses starting every four weeks.
All other languages will be offered via intensive daytime courses this summer during UvA Talen’s July course round. For those who cannot squeeze in a language course after a busy work day, you also have the ability to take a weekend course, which begin four to five times per year.
Personalised and inTense programmes
If you prefer to have more one-on-one time with a teacher, UvA Talen also offers tailor-made course programmes to fit your schedule and language needs. In this format, you are able to choose a course schedule that works best for you.
You can also opt in for their inTense programme for individuals or companies who want to learn a language in rapid time. Over a period of five consecutive days, your teachers will immerse you in the language you want to learn. This programme can be done online or in-person, depending on what you prefer.
To make the immersion complete, you also work on the language you want to learn outside of the lessons. To achieve this, you are given special assignments to complete at home. For example, the teacher might ask you to watch a film or TV programme, or read something in the language you want to master. In some cases, they will also take you on excursions to help you practise what you’ve been learning!
E-learning at The Language Academy
If a course with a fixed schedule is not for you, you can also try out the e-learning programmes at The Language Academy. These courses consist of several different online packages, in which you can follow a self-guided language course at your own pace and at the comfort of your own home. The Language Academy also offers Online+Teacher packages, in which you can speak to a teacher along the way.
