Join an international fashion brand at its European headquarters in Amsterdam as a Womenswear Merchandiser. In this key role, you will help shape commercially successful collections, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive growth across multiple markets. The Team
The Womenswear division is a key business driver within the company’s European operations. The division consists of five specialist teams: Design, Merchandising & Sales, Production, Sourcing & Development, and Buying & Planning.
Working collaboratively in an open and informal environment, these teams create stylish, high-quality products for a global customer base.
The Position
As a key member of the merchandising team, the Merchandiser is responsible for driving sustainable and profitable growth across the Womenswear collection. The role requires a strong understanding of the brand strategy, identity, and company culture, while balancing the needs of different markets.
The Merchandiser oversees the full merchandising critical path, from initial strategy through to product delivery. Working closely with colleagues across Merchandising, Sales, Design, and Product Development, the role helps create cohesive cross-category stories and commercially relevant product assortments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal range plans that deliver commercial, fashionable Womenswear collections aligned with brand direction and varied market needs, working closely with Sales, Design, and Product Development.
- Guide the full collection-building process, including merchandising brief handovers, sketch reviews, prototype reviews, range planning, and product realisation.
- Deliver ambitious growth targets while maintaining appropriate price-value positioning, margins, and collection efficiency in line with management objectives.
- Analyse sell-in and sell-out performance, competitor activity, and market trends to identify opportunities and provide commercially focused recommendations.
- Collaborate with other Merchandisers to ensure a cohesive collection, with clear product priorities and consistent cross-category storytelling.
- Lead pre-pricing, final pricing, and margin meetings; support Sales with market-specific product selections, samples, and product information; and present seasonal collections in key meetings.
- Maintain accurate forecasts, databases, and management reports, while contributing to process standardisation, improved ways of working, and team development.
Experience and Skills
- At least five years of experience in a Womenswear apparel merchandising role, ideally within a wholesale and omnichannel environment.
- Experience guiding, coaching, or mentoring peers or junior colleagues is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of fashion, the apparel industry, Womenswear trends, commercial strategy, brand and product mix, and the metrics that drive omnichannel performance.
- Excellent product judgement, commercial awareness, and the ability to contribute relevant ideas relating to products, assortments, and brand positioning.
- Advanced Excel skills, strong spreadsheet-analysis capabilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to present complex business solutions and processes clearly.
- Strong communication, presentation, influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Results-focused and accountable, with the ability to work calmly and efficiently in a hands-on, active, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
