Green-fingered inhabitants of The Hague will be given another chance to rent municipal garden plots. Residents can apply to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables by registering with the municipality.

The plots are designated for children and older sections of the population, and cost between 22 and 44 euros each.

"The garden plots are available for people 55 years and older and for schoolchildren and their parents. The plots for residents 55 and older are 30 square metres and cost 44 euros per season. The plots for children with their parents are 15 square metres and cost 22 euros per season. For most of the garden plots you can arrange to have a key for 4 euros."

Expats in The Hague will have to be quick to apply however if they wish to secure a plot, as they are distributed on a first come-first served basis.

For more details and registration, please refer to the Municipality of The Hague website.

The gardening season is from March 15 to November 1, 2012.
