Ice skating and beer crate curling on frozen Dutch roads
Winter has finally arrived in the Netherlands, at least in the northern and eastern provinces of Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland and Overijssel. That means ice skating season has officially started!
If you thought that Dutch people patiently wait until the lakes and rivers are frozen over, watch these videos of icy streets and country roads.
What do the Dutch do when there’s ice on the pavement? They strap on those ice skates.
It’s not quite the Elfstedentocht, but both young and old are definitely enjoying themselves. Or how about beer crate curling in the parking lot? These videos are from the first week of January, 2016.
