The Dutch police registered nearly 1,2 million crimes in 2010, 5 percent fewer than in 2009, according to the latest figures by Statistics Netherlands.

More insights
› Bicycle theft decreased by 16 percent
› Vandalism & public order offences decreased by 14 percent
› Violent & sexual offences decreased by 8 percent

Every year 25 percent of all registered crimes are solved:
› 60 percent for violent and sexual offences
› 21 percent for vandalism
› 12 percent for property crimes

Note that property crimes (theft, burglary, fraud and robbery), which account for nearly 60 percent of all registered crimes in the Netherlands, decreased by 3 percent.
