Last November, Nyenrode hosted a Master in Management (MSc) Business Game. This edition of the Business Game was powered by Saatchi & Saatchi and Jeep. During the event, over 50 eager young talents gathered to experience the university and solve a real-life business case.

Business Game winner

The competition led to a winner of a full-tuition revolving scholarship for Nyenrode’s MSc in Management Program.

Adrián Alvarez, an Ecuadorian living and studying in the Netherlands, was the remarkable talent who impressed the judge panel including Program Director, Business Leader from Saatchi & Saatchi and Brand Manager of Jeep, amongst others.

Winner’s impressions

Regarding his experience, Adrián mentions,
"I chose to participate in this business game first of all because of the experience. I really enjoy being part of extracurricular activities related to business and management, so I can learn and grow in this environment.

"My main motivation was, of course, to win the scholarship. Entering a Business School is important to me because of how I project myself in the future. Due to my Bachelor’s degree in electric and electronic engineering, the possibilities for me to follow a business-focused master’s degree were limited.

"However, in Nyenrode I found the opportunity to pursue my goal to combine my technical background with management. Also, I consider myself a sociable person and this type of event allows me to meet unique people and to increase my network."

The Business Game weekend

When asked about his experience during the weekend, Adrián shared the following,
"The experience in Nyenrode was amazing! Since I entered the school I was treated like a so-called Nyenrodian. It was very elegant, the students participating in this game were all competitive and the premises were remarkable. I loved the fact that the campus looks like a medieval castle."

During the Business Game, participants were required to develop a marketing campaign for Jeep in the Dutch market. From amongst 10 teams, Adrián’s group took the prize. Following the announcement of the winning team, personal interviews took place in which Adrián impressed the judges and became the winner of the competition.

Adrián also mentions that he is looking forward to meeting his classmates and living on campus.
"I think that if I live on campus for more than a year, the people I will be surrounded by will have a big impact on my development. I know that Nyenrode promotes various extracurricular events where I will have the chance to participate and meet new people. In general, I am very glad I won this scholarship and that I will be attending this school next year."
