Despite the recent cold front, spring has arrived in the Netherlands and this year's Easter weekend takes place March 30 - April 1.
We’ve compiled a variety of fun suggestions to keep you busy during the long holiday weekend!
For those with a passion for local food why not reserve a table for brunch at notable Amsterdam eateries like Gartine, Love Food or Grand Hotel Amrâth. Enjoy a breakfast buffet for the whole family at the Hard Rock Cafe while children can take part in fun activities like egg painting.
Parents and little ones can also head to Artis Royal Zoo for holiday treats, egg decorating and more! Different events, including daily Easter egg hunts, will take place throughout the holiday weekend.
De Bijlmerweide petting zoo offers an Easter Sunday egg hunt as does De Groot Melkhuis in Vondelpark, with kid friendly activities taking place on both the First and Second Easter Day.
In Amsterdam, both the PureMarkt and Sunday Market will take place with dozens of food vendors, local products and more!
Browse through everything from books to vintage clothes at the Snuffelmarkt in Den Bosch or along the Lange Voorhout in The Hague. Both markets will be open throughout the holiday weekend.
Tulips are, of course, a spring necessity in Holland and the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens are at full bloom!
How about heading out of town for a day trip? The long holiday is a great chance to explore a new part of the Netherlands!
Traditional Easter bonfires will also take place around the country, predominately in the Easter province of Overijsel but some may be cancelled due to strong winds and fire hazards.
If the weather is too chilly for outdoor activities, consider viewing Amsterdam's charming canals on a boat tour.
Classical music fans can attend a performance of Bach’s "St. Matthew Passion" by The Hague’s Residence Orchestra. An additional music and dance duet of the same score will take place at the Korzo Theatre in The Hague.
If pop music is more your style, head to the Paaspop Festival in The Hague, featuring three full days of performances.
