Vegan breakfast / lunch
No better way to start your day than with a proper breakfast or lunch. If you are looking for a nice vegan breakfast spot in Amsterdam, don’t worry we got you! Below, you can find our top three vegan places to have breakfast / lunch:
Beter & Leuk
In this cosy shop in Amsterdam Oost, you can enjoy the tastiest gluten-free and vegan dishes, such as buckwheat pancakes or sweet potatoes filled with lentil curry. The interior is reminiscent of a large living room, full of vintage furniture.
At Beter en Leuk, you will also find fair-trade presents, clothing and maps with illustrations by Sanny van Loon. Walk in on a Wednesday for a Tarot session or follow one of the workshops. And be sure to try the vegan high tea (on an empty stomach!)

Mook Pancakes
Crazy about pancakes? Go to Mook Pancakes in Amsterdam West for a beautifully served pancake, richly garnished with your favourite toppings. Besides pancakes, they also serve stuffed avocados, delicious juices and even a nice wine. Mook is open all day, so a pancake dinner is possible too!

Vegan dinner
Looking for a nice place in Amsterdam to have a great vegan dinner? Look no further! Here are our top three vegan dinner restaurants.
Golden Temple
Golden Temple is not a one-hit wonder; they have been in Amsterdam for years - 40 years to be exact - with power bowls for the vegetarian and vegan. On the menu? Colourful, healthy dishes without meat or fish, such as Indian dahl, Iranian quinoa, Indonesian tempeh salads and light Vietnamese rice paper rolls. This vegetarian oasis is named after an Indian temple where thousands of people can get a vegetarian meal every day for free.
Location: Utrechtsestraat 126, 1017 VT Amsterdam
Vegan Junk Food Bar
At Vegan Junk Food Bar or VJFB (Marie Heinekenplein 9-10), they offer a 100% vegan menu, full of traditional fast food dishes. The hamburger, the shawarma and the Caesar salad are all made with meat substitutes. Everything is delicious and tasty, real comfort food. This does mean that you will probably have to wait for a table when you go here. Our tip? The fries are heaven and the bitterballen divine!
Location: Staringplein 22, 1054 VL Amsterdam
Meatless District
At Meatless District, they have sweet potato fries that will make your mouth water - not baked in the oven, but fried and crunchy! If you are also gluten-free, their gluten-free buns are definitely something to get excited about. Another highlight on the menu: the new mason jar salad, filled with lots of vegetables and some cereals. The building in Amsterdam Oud-West offers plenty of space and Chesterfields to chill on, so you do not have to wait for hours to get a spot!
Location: Bilderdijkstraat 65-67, 1053 KM Amsterdam
Vegan food at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport
When arriving or departing from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, as a vegan, you’ll want to have a proper vegan meal. The perfect spot for this would be restaurant Leon, which serves naturally fast food that is affordable at the same time. The two founders asked themselves: what would fast food look like in heaven? Their answer? Tasty and healthy, inspired by Mediterranean cuisine.
At Leon, they mainly use natural ingredients, such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, seeds and unrefined cereals. These natural ingredients are fair-trade and / or organic products of which they are convinced that there is an ethical, environmental or health benefit.
