Dutch design with an architectural twist

Kast van een Huis (also called This is Dutch) is a creative Dutch furniture brand with an architectural twist.

Furniture that makes you smile

How did this innovative brand come about? Simple. Designer Marie-Louise Groot Kormelink could not find what she was looking for, namely nice and sturdy furniture for her kids, so she decided to design it herself. What she designed was a series of cabinets that would work for kids of any age; from baby to teen. Furniture that would put a smile on their faces!

Whilst the cabinets certainly put a smile on their faces, they were not only a success with Marie-Louise’s own kids. In fact, This is Dutch furniture is currently sold all over the world, in over 25 countries.

Of course, you don’t have to be a kid to like the furniture from This is Dutch. The quirky cabinets can easily be used to store office supplies or archive documents and would be quite the eye catcher in any workplace.

This is Dutch Amsterdam Collection

The Amsterdam Collection

Inspired by the charming canal houses of Amsterdam, this multifunctional collection consists of stylish cabinets that can store anything, from clothes, toys and books to kitchen- and tableware. The back panels have the same silhouette as the front panels., so you can place a row of cabinets (a street, if you will) in the middle of a room to create a trendy room divider.

There are three shapes you can choose from: the stair-step gable, bell gable and neck gable. The stair-step gable and bell gable cabinets are available in the standard size 198 / 55 / 55 cm and the following eight standard colours: Pastel Blue, Sea Pastel, Petrol, Pastel Pink, Mouse, White, Night and Silver. All cabinets come with either four shelves or three shelves and a closet rod.

It is possible to customise your This is Dutch order if you prefer a different colour, size or type. Please note, custom orders have a five to six-week delivery time.

Fun fact: The Amsterdam Collection is part of the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art as one of the best designs for kids in the last decades!

The Durgerdam Collection

The Durgerdam cabinet was inspired by the old wooden fisherman’s houses in Durgerdam, a small town near the former Zuiderzee dike. It is characterised by its white legs and double doors with two large windows. There is a cute round window at the top. Inside, you will find two shelves and a (optional) closet rod.

The Durgerdam cabinet is available in the standard size 210x100x50 cm and standard colours: White, Pastel Pink, Pastel Water and Pastel Blue. Delivery time is five to six weeks.

Prefer a different colour? Customisation is an option!

Prices range from 895 to 1.240 euros. The cabinets can be delivered assembled or flat-packed and shipping is available worldwide.
