Baroness Marguerite Mary van Brienen (Lady Daisy) has visited Japan several times. During her travels, she tried to grasp the character and aesthetic beauty of the gardens she visited. Back in the Netherlands, she created her own interpretation of a Japanese style garden.
In 1954, the estate became the property of the municipality of The Hague and since then, it has been open for public. The municipality of The Hague has always taken a great care of the garden due to its uniqueness and tremendous historical value.
