Amsterdam is the most bicycle-friendly city in the world, according to the Copenhagenize Urban Cycling Index 2011 by Copenhagenize Consulting, an international consultancy specialising in bicycle planning, marketing and communications.
The Copenhagenize Index gives cities marks for their efforts - or lack thereof - towards reestablishing the bicycle as a feasible, accepted and practical form of transport.
80 major cities around the world were given points in 13 different categories including, but not limited to bicycle culture, facilities, infrastructure, perception of safety, politics, social acceptance and urban planning.
