Coronavirus update: Death toll at 10

The RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and Environment) reports that another 190 people in the Netherlands have tested positive for COVID-19, the illness that is caused by the new coronavirus. This means that the new total of infected people is 804. Of those confirmed with the virus, 179 work in the care sector - they are tested more often than other groups.

Current coronavirus situation in the Netherlands

Of the 804 people infected, another five have died, bringing the death toll to 10. All deceased were elderly and had underlying conditions. In total 115 patients are or have been admitted to hospital.

Yesterday, new measures were announced to curb the spread of the virus. These include working from home and the cancellation of all events with more than 100 visitors. Museums and theatres are closed and sports competitions have been cancelled.
