JADS Den Bosch closely collaborates with both Eindhoven university of technology and Tilburg university. This unique collaboration enables a true interdisciplinary approach building on deep technological and engineering knowledge combined with leading humanities and social sciences.

In this appointment you will work in the JADS Den Bosch and also collaborate with several groups at both Eindhoven university of technology and Tilburg university and strive to combine their strengths in setting up large scale research programs and educational programs.

JADS

We do cool stuff that matters, with data. The Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) is the joint Data Science Academy of Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology. JADS Mariënburg is located in Den Bosch and currently has 40 FTE scientific faculty and support staff, 35 EngD and 40 PhD students and has been growing substantially in its research portfolio. As a young institution we are looking for excellent researchers with a can-do mentality who are team players and are willing to connect to other fields. Our researchers have a strong background in quantitative and statistical methods, data science and computer science.

The Data Governance & Engineering Unit

The research department of JADS consists of three units: Data Governance and Engineering (DG), Data Analytics (DA) and Data Entrepreneurship (DE). We are looking for an Assistant Professor in Digital Forensics and Cyber-Physical Crime Intelligence who will be positioned in the Data Governance and Engineering Unit. The Crime and Safety - JADS research theme at JADS focuses on how data can be used to enhance safety in society and effectively prevent and fight crime.

Responsibilities

  • Initiating, supervising and conducting research on Digital Forensics and Cyber-Physical Crime Intelligence.
  • Acquiring external funding for research projects (e.g. second and third money streams).
  • Perform high quality research aiming at publishable and relevant output, aiming at top publications in journals, proceedings and books of international allure with a large national impact not only at the level of research, but also, and at least equally importantly, at the level of society at large.
  • The Assistant Professor will be involved in JADS's educational offerings. Notably, (s)he will participate in Master courses such as; Data Forensics and Cyber-Crime, and, PDEng education and Professional Education around these topics.
  • Supervising PhD, EngD, MSc and BSc projects in this area.
  • Designing, coordinating and teaching courses at BSc, MSc, PhD and EngD levels and in Professional education.
  • Participating in committees at the intra- and inter-departmental levels.
  • Contributing to the management of JADS.


Requirements:

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who has obtained a PhD degree in statistics, computer science, information systems, criminology, social science or a related discipline, has one or more top publication(s), and is an excellent teacher, as witnessed, for example, by favorable teaching evaluations.

  • A background in the application of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and/or AI Engineering for the purpose of digital forensics and cyber-(physical) crime intelligence.
  • Strong cooperation skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to conduct high quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs.
  • Ability to teach, demonstrated by experience or assistance in teaching. Informed vision on teaching and learning within your own discipline.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring of students and staff, leading a project or chairing a group.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English.
