[Q3 2011] Unemployment rose again
08 December 2011, by IamExpat Spotter
Unemployment in the Netherlands has risen since the summer of 2011, according to the most recent figures released by Statistics Netherlands.
More specifically, in the third quarter of 2011, there were 422 thousand unemployed with 39 percent of them not belonging to the labour force (not been looking for work or were not available to start a job in the short term) in the preceding quarter.
The report also reveals that "in addition to a larger inflow into unemployment, there was also a smaller outflow from employment." Only 96 thousand (24 percent of those unemployed in the second quarter of 2011) found a job of at least 12 hours a week.
