Fast-paced language learning at UvA Talen

Are you based in Amsterdam and want to improve your language skills?

UvA Talen offers a wide range of fast-paced and lively courses in Dutch, English and nine other languages, ranging from elementary to advanced levels!

Group courses

UvA Talen offers group language courses for Dutch, English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Swedish and Arabic. 

In these classes participants hone their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, practice grammar, and systematically and rapidly build up vocabulary.

The courses use high-quality, accredited teaching methods that have proven successful through many years of use and are supplemented with carefully selected, up-to-date relevant resources and materials.

Courses are available as daytime and evening classes. Learn about levels & starting dates for each language or enrol directly in a course! Group courses for all languages (all levels) are starting this September and October.

UvA Talen inTense programme

In addition to their regular language courses, UvA Talen offers tailor-made courses specially designed to suit specific needs and individual schedules.

The inTense programme uses the full immersion principle for people who need to improve their language skills quickly and effectively.

Working one-on-one or in very small groups, participants are immersed in an intensive, dynamic programme that combines classroom activities in Amsterdam with study-related excursions and social experiences.

About UvA Talen

UvA Talen is the independent language centre of the University of Amsterdam, serving expats from around the world.

Each year over 1,500 students complete one or more courses at UvA Talen, earning a certificate for an internationally recognised language level.

Courses are offered at all levels to individual students or companies and the fast pace is particularly suited to motivated, fast-learning students.

The small groups ensure optimum interaction with the instructor, so that language proficiency can be improved in a very short time.
