Free Creative Media Workshops at SAE Rotterdam

As anyone working in music production or digital film know, SAE is the largest international educator in audio engineering, digital filmmaking and other creative production disciplines.

SAE Institute Rotterdam, one of two SAE campuses in the Netherlands, offers international education at diploma and degree level in Audio Engineering and Digital Filmmaking, as well as short courses in specialist techniques.

SAE Rotterdam Creative Media Workshops

SAE Rotterdam also runs free Creative Media Workshops that offer exposure to the everyday work and duties in different media fields, helping students determine which career they wish to pursue.

The workshops are in English and are led by experts in the fields, who each have wide experience of the industry and technologies discussed.

Good acoustics are important for any environment where music and sound need to be as pure as possible. SAE head lecturer Koen Donker will discuss the characteristics of rooms, common problems and how to tackle them with "off the shelf" solutions, as well as how to build your own.

This seminar will take you through the basics of Protools, the most widely used DAW for studio recording and mixing, and how to manage your sessions. Workflow as well as practical mixing techniques will be demonstrated in the industry-standard DAW.

Recording drums can be a tricky thing to get right, as the number and placement of the microphones have a huge influence on the final sound. This workshop will take place in SAE Rotterdam’s SSL studio where participants will experience first hand how a drum recording is done properly.
