The story of Béla Bartók
In the role of Béla Bartók, actor Aus Greidanus Sr looks back on the life of this Hungarian composer through his music.
Before Bartók fled to New York to escape the Nazis, he gave one of his last European concerts in 1939 with The Hague Philharmonic. In his unparalleled Concerto for Orchestra, he spectacularly unleashes all the expressive, virtuosic and dynamic capabilities at the orchestra’s command.
What will be played in the concert
The concert will start off with Liszt’s Les preludes, and is followed by Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 2. Finally, the Concerto for Orchestra by Bartók himself will grace the theatre.
