World Press Photo connects the world to stories that matter. The annual World Press Photo Exhibition in Amsterdam is the best known of World Press Photo's activities and is a leading event in the organisation's calendar.
The iconic cultural venue Westergas will host the World Press Photo Festival, while the Nieuwe Kerk will house the 2020 edition of the World Press Photo Exhibition, showcasing the winning photographs from the various categories of the World Press Photo contest.

This event at Westergasfabriek showcases the best visual journalism and storytelling. Get your World Press Photo tickets to enjoy a programme of presentations, meet-ups, film screenings and panel talks. Guest speakers hail from National Geographic, the New York Times, CPJ (Committee to Protect Journalists) and Women Photographers of the African Diaspora.

Westergas is the cultural hub in Amsterdam’s Westerpark that includes spaces such as the legendary Gashouder and the expansive Zuiveringshal. With a history stretching back to 1902, the impressive site plays host to many innovative artistic spectacles, making it a perfect fit for photography-related events.
Nieuwe Kerk hosts World Press Photo Exhibition
Every year, the famous World Press Photo exhibition makes its first stop at De Nieuwe Kerk, a large Gothic church on Amsterdam’s Dam Square. For more than 12 weeks, you can see the awe-inspiring press photos by prize winners from all over the world.
The featured photographs (over 40) were selected from 80.408 photos taken by 5.034 photographers from 125 different countries. Covered categories are General News, Daily Life, Spot News, Contemporary Issues, Long-Term Projects, Nature, Portraits and Sports.

World Press Photo tickets are available online and wristband passes can be picked up from the registration desk at the Zuiveringshal in Westergasfabriek. There is a special student discount available for students who bring their student IDs with them. Tickets also include admission to the partner festival locations Foam, Huis Marseille and Het Ketelhuis.
