Discover the SummerConcerts at The Concertgebouw in July and August 2024

Are you feeling the summer vibes already? You can enjoy a CHANDON Garden Spritz cocktail during the interval of a concert at The Concertgebouw. The shows don’t end there, as many concerts also have a Meet & Greet or an afterparty with a DJ. The SummerConcerts are powered by VriendenLoterij.

The Concertgebouw is celebrating the summer of 2024 with more than 80 concerts - from pop to classical and from jazz to film music, you don’t want to miss out! Here is a selection of concerts being offered by The Concertgebouw this summer:

Pop, soul or jazz during Basement Sessions on Friday evenings

Join The Concertgebouw for the Basement Sessions on Friday evenings, where young talented musicians play pop, soul or jazz. Meet Roufaida on August 16, who pays homage to North African influences with the music of Nina Simone. You could also listen to the songs of singer-songwriter David NuMwami on August 23. There are four other Fridays where The Concertgebouw’s Basement is the place to be!

Musical performances at The Concertgebouw SummerConcerts

The SummerConcerts bring some of the best Classical music, such as Romeo and Julia played by the world-famous Concertgebouw Orchestra and directed by the inspirational Elim Chan on August 23. Enjoy a Cello Concerto: Ella van Poucke will play Haydn’s concerto on August 13 and Jean-Guihen Queyras will play the beloved concert by Dvořák on August 30.

Removing the seats from the Main Hall, The Concertgebouw allows you to choose whether you want to lie down or sit as harpist Lavinia Meijer plays music by Ludovico Einaudi and Philip Glass on July 20. Later that day, you can dance the night away at La Grande Fissa, with DJ St. Paul and Friends.

If you feel nostalgic, join in on August 20 for The Bootleg Beatles with I Feel Fine, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Help! and much more. Take an hour to forget about your phone, your obligations and your worries in Piano Nights on August 15 where you can be amazed by two pianists as they play music ranging from Einaudi to Bach, in a wonderful atmosphere.

About The Royal Concertgebouw

The Royal Concertgebouw was built over 135 years ago at what is now the Museumplein. At that time however, it was located in the middle of a meadow, with a ditch running in front of it and cows grazing nearby. By sheer luck, the building happened to have amazingly good acoustics, which now draws musicians and listeners from all over the world to Amsterdam.

Currently, there are about 750 concerts per year from which you can choose, even during the summer months. Come rain or shine, there is music to be enjoyed almost every night.
